Differences in Motion

Warp plug-ins operate in Motion almost the same as they do in After Effects. Minor differences in Motion are covered on this page.

You can access the filters from the Filters tab in the Library, or from the menu item Video Filters> Red Giant Warp.

RG Corner Pin plug-in

The only feature difference in Motion is that Corner Pin is the missing the Mocha After Effects import menu. This is because Mocha ships with After Effects CS4 and later. The Motion version also lacks the Motion Blur Comp Settings switch in the Motion Blur menu. You can only turn the Motion Blur On or Off. This is because Motion does not natively support motion blur rendering for effects.

RG Shadow plug-in

The only Shadow control missing in Motion is Align Axis. This control aligns the 3D points to the edges of an object. This feature was removed because all FX Plug effects only see the full layer, for instance, an image the same size as the project such as a DV frame that is 720 x 480. You must align the controls manually using the 3 point controls under 3D group. The Motion version also lacks the Motion Blur Comp Settings switch in the Motion Blur menu. You can only turn the Motion Blur On or Off, since Motion does not natively support motion blur rendering for effects.

RG Reflection plug-in

The Reflection controls are very similar to the Shadow controls. As with Shadow, the Reflection plug-in does not feature an Align Axis control or a way to use Comp Settings for Motion Blur in Motion.

Apply Shadow and Reflection to Motion Groups

If you are working with text objects in Motion, the RG Shadow and RG Reflection plug-ins must be applied to the Group and not to the Text object itself. The Group should also be set to a fixed pixel size to assure that the shadow or reflection render properly.

Radium Glow plug-in

The Glow controls in Motion work nearly identical to After Effects, except for the use of image wells to access alternate Shapes, Input Layers and Mask Layers. See the Motion User Guide to get more information on using the image well controls.
